“For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.” Gal 3:21b
After driving forty three years,I received my first speeding ticket two weeks ago. Thirty seven in a twenty five. As the nice policeman said, I had violated a city code and must appear at traffic court. The Radar Speed Gun , unless you live near an aluminum foil factory, is very accurate. So what is my defense? None really. Other than ask for a reduction of the fine ($190.00), I’ll be standing in front of the judge, being charged with breaking a law to which I’ll plead ‘no contest.’
Imagine if our salvation depended on our complete obedience to one or two laws. If you violated any of these laws of God, its off to the pit you go. No chance of appeal; no advocate- nothing else can be done for you.
Strangely enough, I know many “church going” folks that still believe that all “t’s” must be crossed and “i’s“be dotted for their entrance into the Kingdom of God. Its all about the cross and somehow when something is free, people are skeptical. This is why it is so important that pastor’s preach the cross from Scripture; not books about Scripture. When ‘Justification by Faith’ becomes a foreign topic amongst believers, there is a problem; a serious problem.
