What Is The Intention Of My Faith?

“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind” James 1:6

I recently came across a book called ‘Serious Call’ written by William Law in 1726. In chapter 2, he presents  a thought that at first I wanted to turn the page; but I could not help but to return to it time after time. After you read it, I believe you will see what I am talking about:

If you will here stop and ask yourselves why you are not as pious as the primitive Christians were, your own heart will tell you, that it is neither through ignorance nor inability, but purely because you never thoroughly intended it.”

I can only respond to that statement that there are times I just let things be; then there were times I was the defender of the faith. The intention of my faith is to use it and not hide behind it or turn it on 10:00 A.M. Sunday morning. i don’t think our Lord intended us to just “sit” on our faith; but exercise it every minute, every day.
