Thank you John – See You on Center Court!

I do not care that much for basketball.I never knew John Wooden. But his impact on college athletics made me pay attention. It was like when you find out that string beans will not kill you. I focused on him and his leadership style. His method of teaching men two, three times his size was something that I admired over the years. His faith in Christ was the zinger for me . He walked the talk…

“There is only one kind of life that truly wins, and that is the one that places faith in the hands of the Savior. Until that is done, we are on an aimless course that runs in circles and goes nowhere. Material possessions, winning scores, and great reputations are meaningless in the eyes of the Lord, because He knows what we really are and that is all that matters.” John Wooden

In Titus chapter 3, we see a reflection that Christ desires in all of us:

“Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

Goodbye John. Thanks for the education.

A Great Teacher
